As told by Football Insider, Everton’s director of football Marcel Brands is reportedly eyeing up two players from League One side Bolton Wanderers.

What’s the word, then?

Brands has been no stranger to splashing the cash since he joined Everton in 2018, signing the likes of Richarlison for £50m just a few months into his spell on Merseyside. However, not all his recruitment tactics have worked, with certain players like Moise Kean for £27m from Juventus so far failing to justify their hefty price tags.

The reports of late have explained how Brands is this time looking a little for further down the leagues domestically, to try and lure the best upcoming talent. Two of those players are Ronan Darcy and Dennis Politic from Bolton.

This season, the two teenage forwards have been bumped up to the first-team and featured fairly regularly for the senior side. Darcy has had six League One appearances so far, and one outing in the EFL Cup where he scored his first goal, whilst Politic has also scored in the League Cup but has had one more appearance in the league.

Time for some more local talent

Brands has often brought in players from overseas since his takeover of the transfers in 2018, bringing in the likes of Yerry Mina, Lucas Digne and Andre Gomes within just a few months into his new job. The Dutchman has recruited from fellow domestic teams as well, however, acquiring the services of Alex Iwobi and Fabian Delph in the recent summer window.

It’s not always the case that players from big leagues in Europe continue their impressive abilities in England. The unique, physical nature of the Premier League can often devour some players’ form, which we have seen from the likes of Kean and Bernard.

Kean has so far failed to score and registerd just 1.1 shots per game in the Premier League, whilst Bernard has just two league goals in 40 appearances from the wing for the Blues.

Talent has emerged over the past few years from the likes of the Championship, who have later come to the Premier League and took the division by storm. Daniel James joined Manchester United from Swansea City this season and is the club’s leading scorer in the top-flight with three goals so far.

Elsewhere, James Maddison’s 14 goals for Norwich City two seasons ago earned him a transfer to Leicester City, where he has since become one of the Premier League’s best in his position, averaging a 7.42 rating this campaign.

Brands has the right idea by searching in the lower divisions because it can often result in a special signing. Buying the young attackers from Bolton could help with Everton’s current goal struggles, where striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has just two goals, whilst the team has a total of only six in the league.

وقال عبد الحميد بسيوني خلال مداخلة هاتفية عبر برنامج “التالتة يمين” المُذاع عبر قناة “الزمالك”: “المنافسة قوية هذا الموسم وستنحصر بين الأهلي والزمالك، ولن تُحسَم إلا بنهاية المباريات”.

وعن مباراة الزمالك في الجولة الأخيرة من دور المجموعات ببطولة دوري أبطال إفريقيا، قال: “مواجهة الزمالك الأخيرة والفوز على المولودية في الجزائر أعطى لكل جماهير الأبيض الأمل في التأهل”.

تابع: “إن شاء الله الترجي يفوز على المولودية ويتحقق الحلم الصعب ونخرج من الموقف الذي وضعنا أنفسنا فيه، ونتمنى أن يتأهل الزمالك ويكون طرفًا في نهائي دوري أبطال إفريقيا”.

وواصل: “الزمالك قادر على الفوز في المباراة المقبلة، وعلى لاعبيه أن يفعلوا كل ما عليهم ويحققوا المكسب في اللقاء المقبل”.

اختتم: “على الزمالك إعطاء رسالة للجماهير أنه يسير على الطريق الصحيح، وحتى لو فرص الفريق ضعيفة يجب أن يقاتل على حظوظه في الأدوار المقبلة”.

وقلص كريستيان بنتيكي الفارق بتسجيله هدف كريستال بالاس في الدقيقة 63، ولكن بوليسيتش عاد من جديد ليسجل الهدف الثاني له والرابع لـ تشيلسي في الدقيقة 78.

بتلك النتيجة، ارتفع رصيد تشيلسي إلى 54 نقطة في المركز الرابع، بينما تجمد رصيد كريستال بالاس عند 38 نقطة في المركز الثالث عشر.

Speaking ahead of their game at the City Ground, Royals boss Mark Bowen was adamant that he didn’t want his side to be considered pushovers anymore.

The comments come with his side 20th in the table and having only one 3 of their 13 games this year:

“I have tweaked the way we play in terms of trying to be a bit more direct and a bit more on the front foot. I want us to play games where it’s a battle for every team playing against us. I hate that label where if you play Reading it’s going to be a nice game of football.

“Well excuse me for saying it but sod that. I want us to be nasty and if we get that right the quality in the team will take over and we will become a better side and will get more points.”

When he was first appointed, Lamouchi spoke about how this division was the ‘worst league in the world’, and if the past two games have been a baptism of fire in the Championship, it appears as if he’s going to be in for another tough day at the office.

The past two games have been something of a disaster for Nottingham Forest, with fans now starting to question the manager, and he is going to have to do something incredibly drastic to get those fans back on his side.

A two-game losing streak can be somewhat acceptable, especially when you consider the number of injuries to key players that they have had to put up with during the process.

However, if that turns into three defeats in a row, and back to back losses on your home ground, it starts to become a problem and something that can quickly become a trend.

Lamouchi has been given an advantage here, Bowen has just gone and told him how he expects to set his team up.

This may give him added pressure but it’s up to him to try and counteract Reading’s setup, because if he can’t learn when being given a heads up in this manner, perhaps that ten-match unbeaten run wasn’t all down to him after all.

وكان الزمالك أعلن أمس عن تقدمه باحتجاج رسمي إلى الاتحاد الإفريقي لكرة القدم، بسبب أحداث مباراة الترجي التونسي ومولودية الجزائر، والتي على إثرها ودع الفارس الأبيض منافسات دوري أبطال إفريقيا على الرغم من فوزه على تونجيث. طالع التفاصيل من هنا.

وقال رايموند هاك خلال مداخلة عبر برنامج “بي أون تايم” المُذاع على قناة “أون تايم سبورت”: “لجنة الانضباط بالاتحاد الإفريقي تتعامل مع كل المباريات التي تُقام في البطولات الإفريقية، ولكن اللجنة ليست مخولة لمراقبة المباريات، فهذا يتم من مراقب المباراة المفوض والمنسق العام والمسئول الأمني”.

تابع: “يتم تقديم تقارير عن المباريات والأحداث التي جرت خلالها، ثم بعد ذلك إذا رأت اللجنة ضرورة للتدخل يتم النظر في التقارير والتحقيق فيها من قبل لجنة الانضباط، وإذا وجدت اللجنة أن هناك شيئا يستحق المناقشة يتم التعامل معه وفقًا للقوانين واللوائح، في حال حدوث أي مخالفة”.

وواصل: “يتم بعد ذلك عقد جلسة استماع مع الفرق المتورطة في ذلك لضمان أن يكون التعامل مع الشكوى موضوعي، حتى لا يكون هناك أي تأثير على نتائج المباريات للفريق أو للفريقين، وإذا كان هناك أدلة على هذه الحوادث بعد ذلك تتخذ اللجنة قرارها بناءً على اللوائح والنظام الداخلي”.

وبسؤاله هل في حالة ثبوت أن هناك اتفاق ضمني بين اللاعبين على خروج نتيجة معينة في المباراة، دون ذكره في تقرير المراقب، هل للجنة التحقيق في الأمر؟، رد قائلاً: “اللجنة لديها السلطة للتحقيق في شيء حتى لو لم يتواجد في تقرير مراقب المباراة، فاللجنة تتابع المباريات وإذا شعرت أن هناك شيئا ما غير صحيح فاللجنة لديها السلطة لمتابعة المباريات بنفسها بالفيديو والتحقق من كل ما يحدث ويمكن لأي طرف تقديم شكوى للجنة”.

وعن تقديم الزمالك لشكوى للجنة الانضباط بالكاف: “أي تقرير يأتي للجنة يؤخذ في الاعتبار ويعاد النظر في التقرير مع حكم اللقاء إذا لم يكن بالتقرير أي شيء غير عادل”.

استكمل: “إدارة الاتحاد الإفريقي تتحقق من حدوث أي شيء غير صحيح، حتى لو كان هذا الأمر لم يتواجد في تقرير المراقب، ولكن لابد من توفير أدلة قاطعة”.

وبسؤاله ماذا لو تأكدتم من وجود تلاعب في المباراة؟، قال: “لا أستطيع أن أحدد موقفا معينًا، لكن اللجنة تستطيع فرض العقوبات أو إعادة المباراة أو وقف اللاعب أو النادي أو خصم نقاط إذا تم ثبوت التلاعب وفقًا للائحة”.

أوضح: “إذا حدث أي اتفاق بين الأندية ضد القواعد لابد أن يكون هناك توصية من لجنة الانضباط بهذا الأمر، وإذا لم تثبت الإدارة يتم النظر للمباراة وإذا ما حاول أي شخص التأثير على قرار الحكم”.

اختتم: “في كل مرة يتم الإحالة للجنة الانضباط يكون هناك جلسة استماع لمقدم الشكوى الذي يقدم معها الأدلة وجلسة استماع للمتهم بالحادث لكي يدافع عن نفسه”.

Arsenal are eyeing a January bid for RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano, per The Sun.

What’s the word?

The Gunners reportedly made a £40m bid for the centre-back in the summer but were unable to get a deal over the line.

Upamecano, though, has a contract that expires at the end of next season and a new £40m bid, the report claims, could see him leave the Bundesliga.

The Gunners, of course, signed both William Saliba and David Luiz in the summer but The Sun claims that Upamecano is seen as a player who could potentially form the backbone of their defence for years to come.

The 20-year-old has made a total of 80 appearances for Leipzig, while he has won 13 caps for France U21s.

A bold investment

Upamecano is clearly a top-tier talent.

In 2018/19, he made a total of 15 appearances in the Bundesliga, making an average of 1.5 tackles, 2.2 interceptions, 2.9 clearances and a passing accuracy of 82.5%, per WhoScored.

At the age of 20, there is room for growth, and he has time to improve; he has yet to win his first senior France cap, for example, and has only made a total of 59 appearances in the Bundesliga.

Partnering him with the 18-year-old Saliba, another young player with room to grow, would perhaps cement the heart of Arsenal’s defence for the next decade.

Arsenal should do all they can to bring him to north London.

Everton fans don’t seem to be sold on the idea of Marcelino becoming the new manager, with some supporters suggesting he is no different to Marco Silva.

Marcelino was sacked by Valencia last month after the Spanish club sat in 10th on four points from three games. Prior to losing his job with the club, the 54-year-old won the Copa Del Rey with them and achieved Champions League football by finishing fourth.

It does look like some fans are becoming increasingly frustrated by the names of foreign managers linked to the club with no Premier League experience. Some supporters have stated they are unaware of who Marcelino is and suggested they are tired of coaches who flourish elsewhere but are yet to prove themselves in England.

Indeed, Marcelino has spent his entire coaching career in Spain, with his time at Valencia his most notable.

However, with a trophy and Champions League football achieved in the same year, it could be something Farhad Moshiri is satisfied with.

After all, Everton’s majority owner has stated that getting the club into the elite competition is his ultimate aim.

On the other hand, fans do not think Marcelino could be that man…

وواصل: “لقد كانت الجماهير معنا، يدعموننا ويساعدوننا، لم نتمكن من إسعادهم ولكننا سنواصل القتال، علينا جميعًا أن نستعيد أنفسنا”.

تحدث أحمد نبيل كوكا لاعب فريق الكرة بالأهلي على مشاركته في مباراة الليلة أمام إنبي التي جمعت بينهما ضمن منافسات الدوري المصري.

وكان الأهلي قد حقق فوزًا كبيرًا أمام إنبي بنتيجة 3-1، باللقاء الذي جمع بينهما على أرضية استاد بتروسبورت طالع التفاصيل.

وقال أحمد نبيل كوكا في تصريحات تلفزيونية عبر “أون تايم سبورتس”: “مكسب مهم بعد الخسارة أمام سموحة، اللاعبين كانوا في حالة تركيز من أجل حسم الفوز مبكرًا لكي نلعب بهدوء ونتجنب الإصابات”.

وأردف: “أشكر بيتسو موسيماني لأنه منذ اليوم الأول يقف بجانبي ويدعمني، وإن شاء الله أكون على قدر المسؤولية الثقيلة”.

They don’t ever miss an opportunity do they?

The rivalry between Derby County and Nottingham Forest is a long and storied one, so whenever there’s a chance for one to poke fun or criticise the other, fans are going to do their best to get under each other’s skins. And when it’s a situation like this, they were never going to keep quiet.

The news came out yesterday that Derby County had decided to terminate the contract of their club captain Richard Keogh as he recovers from the injuries suffered in a crash with his teammates Tom Lawrence and Mason Bennett back in September.

Whilst there were some who used it as one final chance to have a pop at Keogh, there were others who decided to take a more serious tone about the incident and outright condemn their decision, pointing out the hypocrisy in letting the two main culprits Lawrence and Bennett still play for the club.
