Those in charge at Southampton will be pleased with the job Ralph Hasenhuttl is doing, claims former midfielder Carlton Palmer.

After a promising start to the season, which saw Southampton even go top of the table at one stage, the Saints really fell off in the second half of the campaign before finishing in 15th place.

Hasenhuttl looks set to continue in the St. Mary’s dugout, however, with talkSPORT’s Alex Crook (via This Is Futbol) recently claiming that the Austrian’s job is “very safe”.

And looking at the context of Southampton’s season, Palmer can understand why that is the case. Speaking on the matter, the former Saints player told FFC:

“I think they’re [the board] happy for them to be in the Premier League. I think they’ll be happy for them to be around, you know, halfway, just below halfway.

“He [Hasenhuttl] created the problem of the expectations because they were doing so well, at the top of the league, and people get carried away. So, for sure, I don’t see any reason why he should be leaving Southampton.”

Hasenhuttl did manage to take Southampton to an FA Cup semi-final this season, while his high-pressing football, the team’s ability to get the ball quickly back from the opposition, gets fans roaring.

The Saints have never really been in any serious relegation trouble either, so it really is not hard to see why Hasenhuttl’s job is so secure right now.

وكان الأهلي قد عاد من جنوب إفريقيا يوم الأحد الماضي بعد خوض مباراة صن داونز، ‏وحصل الفريق على راحة يومين، فيما اكتفى اللاعبون أمس بأداء جلسات استشفائية للتخلص من ‏حالة الإجهاد قبل مواجهة المريخ.

يذكر، أن الأهلي خاض مباراة بيراميدز في الدوري يوم 8 مارس، ثم توجه إلى جنوب إفريقيا ‏وخاض مباراة صن داونز يوم 12، فيما يلتقي مع المريخ يوم الجمعة 18 مارس الجاري في الجولة الخامسة من دور المجموعات لدوري أبطال إفريقيا.

O Vasco confirmou que nenhum dos jogadores que retornam de empréstimo neste fim de ano serão aproveitados para 2017 pelo técnico Cristovão Borges. Um provável destino é a Chapecoense, onde já atuou em 2015. Os demais estão em fim de contrato – o lateral tem o mais longo, apenas até fevereiro –, mas não serão renovados.

What’s the word?

According to Italian news outlet Tuttosport, Spurs are interested in bringing former Juventus general manager Fabio Paratici to North London this summer.

The Athletic have previously suggested that Daniel Levy could look to appoint a new director of football, something he has not done since the departure of Franco Baldini in 2015.

Paratici is very close to Spurs’ mooted managerial target Antonio Conte, who left Inter Milan this week after winning the Serie A title. Reports suggest the pair have remained in touch since their time in Turin.

A move such as this one would signal a significant change in direction at the Lilywhites, moving back to a more foreign model that we tend to see in Italy and Germany.

In recent years, the bulk of all club decisions have been made between Levy and technical performance director Steve Hitchen but there is a void between them and what happens on the pitch.

This is where Paratici could come in, and given his relationship with Conte, the Spurs chairman could well be onto a winner by eyeing the pair of them for his vacant roles.

His chances of securing Paratici have been increased since it was officially announced that the 48-year-old would be leaving the Serie A giants after 11 seasons.

Paratici is widely considered to be one of the masterminds behind the golden era at the Allianz Stadium, where Juventus secured 19 trophies under his tenure, as well as bringing big names like Cristiano Ronaldo to the club.

“Fabio has written the history of Juventus in recent years,” claimed president Andrea Agnelli. “A journey characterised by professionalism, self-sacrifice and many successes. Nineteen trophies in 11 years are the best testimony of his work, which is fully part of the long tradition of our club. Today is the time to thank him for having been able to create a strong professional bond, accompanied by daily passion.”

Conte steered the Italian side to three league titles and two Supercoppa Italianas during his time under the long-serving general manager and has since continued his successful managerial career, adding a Premier League title and FA Cup triumph with Chelsea to his record as well as winning this season’s Serie A with Inter.

Given their history of success, this could be exactly what Spurs need considering they have not won anything since 2008, yet have gone close on more than one occasion.

Paratici and Conte has been a very lucrative partnership before, so Levy could do no wrong in sealing the pair of them to help transform the perennial North London strugglers into a club the fans will be proud of.

Carlton Palmer has told Football FanCast that he thought Nuno Espirito Santo was nailed on to become the Tottenham manager following his shock departure from Wolves last week.

Just 48 hours before the Premier League season finished, the Portuguese made a surprise announcement that he’ll be leaving the Midlands outfit after four years.

Santo was then almost immediately backed into the favourite for the Spurs job, although Alasdair Gold confirmed that he’s not a candidate to replace his compatriot, Jose Mourinho.

Countless names have been linked with the vacancy in N17, with the likes of Roberto Martinez, Antonio Conte and even Mauricio Pochettino all being reportedly considered, although it doesn’t appear that Spurs are any closer to naming Mourinho’s successor.

But one man it won’t be is Santo despite taking Wolves from the Championship to the top-seven in the Premier League and then quarter finals of the Europa League, much to the confusion of Palmer.

He told Football FanCast:

“I am still quite bemused as to why Nuno left Wolves. Why has he stepped down? There’s no reasons why he stepped down, I thought he 100 per cent stepped down because he was in with a shout for the Spurs job.

“But there will be a lot of people linked with the Spurs situation, and anybody will be honoured to be linked with Spurs, it’s a massive club.”

No primeiro convênio entre Vasco e CBC foram repassados R$2.898.670,71 para compra de equipamentos. Com os recursos, o Vasco importou da Alemanha uma flotilha de 11 barcos, adquiriu equipamentos de fisioterapia e está instalando os novos sistemas de filtragem e aquecimento da piscina olímpica de São Januário. Para ter direito aos recursos, o clube teve que apresentar todas as certidões que comprovam a regularidade fiscal do clube.

وواصل: “تم استبعاد روسيا من كأس العالم، ولكن هناك دول أخرى تقوم بما تفعله روسيا وأكثر ولا يتم معاقبتهم، لذلك هذه عنصرية واضحة، لأن الأرواح تُفقد في العديد من الحروب الأخرى ونحن نعطي أهمية أكبر لمن هم قريبون منّا فقط”.

وأشار: “يجب علينا أن نكون مُدركين لما يحدث، نهتم بالحروب الأخرى والتي تحدث من حولنا وأعلم جيدًا مقدار الألم التي تمر به البلدان الأخرى”.

واختتم: “يجب أن نتحدث عن انتهاك حقوق الإنسان في هذه الدول وليس فقط روسيا وأوكرانيا، هناك من لا يشعر بالأمان ويفقد أحبابه كل يوم، ويتم غض البصر عنهم”.

West Ham fans will be concerned about Declan Rice’s future this summer given that he really stepped up in the last 12 months and looks set to start for England at the European Championships, however Barry Fry does not believe that the club will sell their star midfielder.

Rice had a fantastic season playing every minute of every game he was available for in the Premier League, which saw him earn a nomination for young player of the year. The prize was ultimately won by Phil Foden who only started 17 league games.

The now England regular has seen himself linked with a move to Manchester United specifically with reports even suggesting that he had been talking to Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Dean Henderson during international breaks this season about a potential switch to Old Trafford.

Next season is one where West Ham have a solid base and could push on to become regular top-six contenders, and Fry believes that Rice will be part of that squad challenging next season as he spoke exclusively to Football FanCast:

“To be quite honest, knowing David Moyes and knowing the two Davids, Gold and Sullivan, they won’t sell him.

“No matter what comes up, if it’s £100 million or £125 million, they won’t sell him. Moyes has done a brilliant job considering last year they were relegation candidates and now they’re getting into Europe so what a turnaround in 12 months.”

Over the last 12 months, Moyes has managed to build a solid spine of a starting lineup with the likes of Craig Dawson, Tomas Soucek, Rice, Jesse Lingard and Michail Antonio so it would be a huge blow for Hammers fans to lose Rice this summer as he would be near impossible to replace.

Even before West Ham potentially lose Rice, Moyes will know that he must improve his squad and not just the starting lineup, otherwise, they will struggle to cope with the added Europa League games.
