Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has responded to rumours that a return to Barcelona could be on the cards.

Portuguese transfer insider Pedro Almeida claimed earlier this month that Thiago could follow Dani Alves back to the Camp Nou.

New Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has apparently held talks with president Joan Laporta about bringing him back.

Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League clash with FC Porto on Wednesday night, Thiago insisted that he ‘didn’t care’ about this speculation and was ‘focused on the duty I have with my team’.

Fabrizio Romano relayed his comments and added that, while the Spaniard is considered a ‘magnificent player’ at Barcelona, they have not made a formal approach ‘in the last months’.

Thiago has made over 30 appearances for the Reds since he joined from FC Bayern in 2020.

المدرب البرتغالي تولى قيادة إيران من قبل منذ 2011 حتى 2019، قادهم لبطولة كأس العالم في 2014 بالبرازيل و2018 بـ روسيا.

صحيفة “طهران تايمز” الإيرانية، أكدت أن دراجان سكوتشيتش قريب من مغادرة المنتخب الإيراني، وكذلك ماهدافيكيا المدير الفني لمنتخب تحت 23 عامًا.

However, the striker’s opportunities were rare in truth, as he also lost nine duels and failed to record a single shot on goal or key pass in the entire match.

He also managed just 13 touches of the ball, the lowest out of any Magpies player to have started the clash, and completed a paltry four passes despite playing the full 90 minutes.

Matt Ritchie (5.8)

Ritchie was given the worst Newcastle rating by SofaScore, a measly 5.8.

The left wing-back endured a torrid time at the Emirates Stadium, finding himself booked at the end of the first half, while he lost out on all five of his duels and failed to make a clearance, tackle or block.

Offensively, he managed no shots, dribbles, or key passes, having just 19 touches of the ball on a day to forget.

The Lowdown: Spurs eye Dembele move…

After Spurs recorded pre-tax losses of around £80.2m for the last financial year, taking their overall debt to £706m (The Guardian), it’s little surprise to see transfer chief Fabio Paratici and manager Antonio Conte targeting free agents.

As per their information, Spurs are one of three clubs to have the ‘offer’ of a signing-on bonus at the ready should Dembele decide to leave Catalonia.

Manchester United and Newcastle are the other two contenders who can gift the 24-year-old this incentive as both the player and his agent run out of time to make a decision.

It is said that the ‘ultimatum’ Barcelona gave Dembele ‘reaches it’s last days’, with the winger now expected to respond to their proposal of an extension.

The Verdict: Interesting times ahead…

The £210,000-per-week forward would be an eyebrow-raising addition for Conte in more ways than one.

On top of his lucrative salary demands, Dembele’s history of severe hamstring problems doesn’t exactly bode well for any club interested in signing the attacker.

His obvious ability is undeniable, with former Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman recently calling him ‘fantastic’ following a return to form, but it’s arguable that the finances involved and his unreliable fitness record make this a risky move for Tottenham.

Pundit Carlton Palmer certainly agrees, telling This is Futbol: “The way that recruitment of players is done now and the in-depth analysis of players and their game time and their injuries and the type of money that Dembele would be commanding, I think it would be a crazy signing.”

We wholeheartedly agree with the former England international and suggest that Spurs avoid this one.

Apesar do bom início do interino, a diretoria ainda estuda qual será o escolhido para o próximo ano e não deve tomar a decisão em um futuro próximo.

Mano era um sonho antigo da diretoria palmeirense, só que nesta sexta assinou novo contrato com a Raposa até o fim de 2019. Valentim deve terminar o ano como treinador do Verdão e já disse estar pronto para tornar-se técnico – ele, oficialmente, ainda é auxiliar da comissão fixa do clube. Quando Cuca deixou o clube a primeira vez, no fim do ano passado, o elenco já havia pedido sua efetivação. Ele acabou saindo para assumir o Red Bull no Paulista, quando Eduardo Baptista foi contratado.

Alberto segue seu trabalho enquanto aguarda uma definição. Ele diz que seu foco é no próximo jogo, mas avisou não ter dúvida de que está pronto para ser técnico em qualquer equipe. Ainda não houve um contato da diretoria com ele para tratar de 2018, até porque ele está há uma semana no cargo.
